As shown by Rendezvous, we visited Whatipu today. On the Northern tip of the Manukau Harbour entrance.

On the way, dropped by Nihotupu Dam:

Arrived at the carpark, and walked 15min through the pathway, along to the Southern tip of the beach and shot this:

And just along the beach to the right was the sun setting, with 3 people jumping around the water:

Meanwhile, the sun sets, people leave, Wazza freaks out, sets the camera on 10sec timer, and runs away!

Leaving again, in almost darkness, can't resist snapping another shot across the tidal lake:

And of course.. what's one more?!

Well we had lots of fun, and officially our last joint effort for a while, as Rendezvous is moving South to continue his University study. :(

Enjoy all.

Wow #2 is cool looking. I can almost picture a boat going over the edge there!

I like them all, but I love the last.
On the last shot might I suggest a crop putting the tree on the left third and the horizon on the lower third, still keeping the rock and the moon in the shot.
Something like this;

Hope you don't mind the suggestion,

Cameron

Yeah nice crop.

The pic I already did, was already a slight crop, as I shot it wide open. Walking along the path, turned camera back onto manual mode, and shot, something like 4 sec exp.

I generally follow rules of thirds.
Now I just wish all digital cameras shot at 2.35:1 :D
NIce, and more natural to our field of view.

What is the second picture of? What does that spill way do?

The dam is 100% full, that's why the water was trickling over constantly. A few years back on a couple of occassions, we had a drought, and had to preserve the water. Water level was under 20-30%.. Which looks really odd in a massive tank

Wow... were these shot with the Sony listed in your signature?

Yes, they were shot with the Sony V1. Not a bad advanced P&S camera. I've done approx 12,300 pics, in 16 months. Just on Sunday, I broke it...
So maybe that's a sign that I will get a Canon DSLR sooner than expected.
