Catch some of the ferries in the area. Head over to the Olympic Peninsula and/or down to Mt. Rainier. A little further afield, and you won't be able to get too close now, is Mt. St. Helens. The San Juan Islands are also nice. There's a wildlife park an hour or two away. I think it's around Snoqualmie (my wife went there while I was working). Snoqualmie itsself.
In the city: Woodland Park Zoo, Museum of Flight, the Queen Anne district, Pioneer Square, Seattle Aquarium. Just a few. Maybe take a cruise on Elliott Bay.

In Seattle? Lots of stuff. But I live 50 miles south and don't spend much time 'up' in the city.

Go towards Mt. Baker (north of Seattle), where the eagles are currently gathered and feeding.

After that, check out Mt. Rainier, although for the next few months some of the best areas are not accessible, like the Steven's canyon area. There are some excellent waterfalls that you can easily access. if that's your thing.

And as long as you are south of Seattle, check out Mt. St. Helens ... you might get lucky and it will either be steaming or shooting out some ash.

Then of course you could jump a ferry to the Olympic Peninsula and check out the Olympics, and the hot springs.

Really depends on what you want to shoot. Since I focus on wildlife, as you can see, these sites will provide excellent chances to obtain some awesome photo's.

Not sure where to shoot, but you sure are lucky. Washington state is one of the most photographable states I have every seen. I read Olympic National Park is stunning.

Yeap ... especially when it's like it is now, with a dusting of fresh snow. I've spent more than a few moments in class drifting off while watching the sun highlight the various peaks and valleys off in the distance.

Too bad it's usually during the statistics part or some other 'boring' lecture in class...

Be sure to check out the Seattle Central Library (http://www.shadesofblack.org/gallery/seattlecentrallibrary) downtown on Fourth Ave. As you can see, I had fun with it. :)

Here's a link to "The Best of the Northwest" 2004, from one of the Seattle papers. It's basically a list of the sights to see in and around Seattle.

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/visitorsguide/

It's a simple list that then links to a related article. This way you have a chance to look up what YOU want to see...not what I think you may want.
