Whilst coming home earlier this evening I stopped at my city's major shopping mall where they were having auditions for a runway modelling competition at our Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) next month. Most of the contestants had no prior experience and some had only filled out an entry form there and then. I think I've managed to get photos of the decent ones - we'll find out at some point when they announce the top 30 for the final.

Camera was a D/Rebel XTi and the only lens I used was the 75-300 f/4-5.6 II. Most photos were taken at 1600iso with exposure compensation set to -1 stop, so yeah... apologies for all that noise. Developed with Lightroom 2 beta. C&C appreciated. =)

Good captures. White balance seems a bit off, but it may be my monitor though.

Thanks. :) If the guys were better looking I'd have included some of them, too.

No, it's not your monitor. I did have trouble finding the correct white balance. I'll see if I can make them better seeing as I've had some sleep since then... haha. :)

EDIT: Done.

#3 is my favorite capture. Best focus and lighting in the group.

Nice shots... it sounds like the room was pretty dark, given the settings you used. Good job!

Thanks. :) It was actually a covered stage in the middle of a open-air shopping mall. I wouldn't say it was too dark, although faster glass, a monopod or a 5D/1DmkIII would have been very useful... :)

Yeah... I've been thinking about buying a monopod, since it's the cheapest of those options. At least, a cheap monopod is. 8-)
