Hey, this is my first post to the list and I'm looking for advice. I have a Digital Rebel (have been extremely happy with it) and for Christmas, Santa (mysteriously disguised as the UPS man) delivered a 75/300 lens with IS. I ordered from Amazon.com to take advantage of a gift cert, and noticed when it arrived yesterday that when I turn the zoom, there is a distinctive "click" at 100.

Is this normal? I'm concerned there might be a defect, but hate to go through the hassle of returning it through Amazon if it is indeed nothing to worry about.
Any advice would be appreciated.

TIA,
Kristie

How about going back?? does it still click?? Is there a give??

If in doubt........return it.

I have a click and a sort of "stiff" sensation on my kit 18-55, but the lens still functions perfectly (I just figured since it was a $100 piece of glass, that this was normal. If this was a $500 + lens on the other hand.......).

Like stated before though, when in doubt, return it.

My 75-300 IS has never (fingers crossed) made any noises other than that low hum which tells you it's working.
