I'd like to get an adapter tube for my G6 for UV and polarizer filters. I see they seem to come in both 52 mm and 58 mm. Is there any advantage to one size over the other?

Well, I think all the available lenses (wide adapter, or tele-adapter) come in a 58mm mounting diameter (all the ones I've seen anyway), so if you were thinking of ever going that route, I'd suggest the 58mm. If not, I don't know - the filters would of course be cheaper in the smaller size, but I don't know if there are any drawbacks to the 52 vs 58.
So call this a bump!

Go the 58mm, I think there's more overall support from what I've read!

Visit www.lensmateonline.com (http://www.lensmateonline.com) for examples of adaptors and other accessories for the G9. I got my 58 mm adaptor and some filters from them. You'll see some photos on what they look like so you can make a better choice.

I use the 58mm Lensmate adapter - it's solid, professional machining, fits like a glove - plus all the filters I use on my dslr fit since it's the same mm. From my experience you may have more options for filters at the 58mm range
