Still learning my Post Processing with Canon's DPP...so be patient :)

Just purchased a Whibal, and want to learn how to use to achieve proper White Balance. Please help.

1. Shot two photos, one regular & one with WhiBal Card (RAW)

2. Opening DPP within the RAW Tab, I click on the White Balance Dropper, then Click on the WhiBal in photo. My White Balance adjustment occurs.

Now, I want to apply this setting to my good photo. What is the best method?

-Copy Recipe to Clipboard?
-Paste Recipe to Good Photo?

Are these the "right steps"...or is there a better method?

Thanks

I don't know if it's right or if there's a better method but that is how I generally do it.

Also if you shoot a lot in consistant light you can make it a custom preset.

There are several ways to do it. The copy/paste method is good and has the advantage that you can change several settings at once. Another way which is good if you want to set only WB and/or you will want to use the same WB at another session, is to use the Register buttons. You can save up to three WB settings and apply them at any time. They will remain registered even if the program is closed and reopened later or until you change the registration.

You can also simply select as many photos in the display as you like - all of them if appropriate, and then set WB for one and the other selected photos will all be update at the same time. No need to save or copy anything.

Thanks for the link scrumpy...that was fun, especially the "can you trust your eyes"

I use whibal, but proabably not as often as I should.

Where was it that I read that a Grey Card is used for proper *exposure* calculations, and a White Card for.... well, White Balance?

You can use a gray card to do both and a white card to do WB.
