I am posting my first photos! I'm attempting to begin a small side business in portrait photography...something I have loved for many years as a hobby. At this point, I have not had the heart to charge much, barely enought for my printing costs. I took the first photo using a Canon 20D (Shutter Speed 1/200, Aperture 3.2, ISO 200, using an 85mm f/1.2L-lens). Main lighting was a single 1000W halogen, and a 250W hair light from behind. I believe I could have improved this first photo with a bit more hairlight, but none the less...I still liked the overall low-key lighting which I believe gave her an elegant look. I just began using my Canon 20D with the 85mm f/1.2 L-lens. I'm having a bit of trouble sharply AF the portion of the photo I had intended when using wide aperture settings. I'm hoping practice will make perfect. The second photo is my attempt at a high-key senior photo, using a Canon Powershot Pro1, 1000W halogen, 650W halogen with softbox, 350W hair light, and reflectors. Anyway, would appreciate any comments or suggestions. Thanks, Sandy

I like them both. The first looks like a hand coloured B&W and believe me I've seen plenty.
Way back in the 1930s and 40s and even into the 50s, my mother used to colour photos for a living. (Yes, I really am that old.)

I like number 2, (The right one) I guess I like close ups more. But both seem great to me.

Now that I can see them I'll have to say number two is my pick for close in composition on a different style of Head Shot. Nice lighting also. :D
