Let me know what you think about this raw one. It is a Japanese Maple near the University of Washington campus. I am thinking about going lighter in the "tunnel" under the tree. Any other comments? Suggestions?

Hi
Personally I wouldn't go lighter.
The sky reflection in the water (I presume) is a big distraction
for me. The picture is of Fall colors and the black and white reflection of tree trunks and sky does not contribute
to your composition.
I would crop off the black and white section and leave the
fall leaves, concentrating on the inverted V shape band
of leaves.
Play with Levels, Contrast, and perhaps Saturation and
then Unsharp Mast and you will have a very attractive
composition.
The bright values at the base of your image draw your
viewer's eye away from what you want them to see and
admire.
