50mm 1.4 Canon lens Squeek

Hello all, just want to say that this is a freaking awsome forum and many brilliant minds

I just got the 50mm 1.4 lens and when it has a hard time focusing the usm squeeks a little, is this normal or should I send it back to canon?

it seems to take great photos and focuses okay as well.

Greetings coxwain. Can you explain what you mean by the lens having a hard time focusing? Are you using it in very low-light situations? Or is your subject closer than the minimum focusing distance? I have that lens and mine only has trouble in those situations (the latter being a user error, of course. :) ) But mine never squeaks! It is a very quiet lens ... you might want to take it back to the place of purchase and swap for another.

When I try to focus too close and low light I get the squeek. Looks like I will have to take it back to the manufacturer
