The difference in price between the Sandisk Compact Flash 1GB and the Sandisk Compact Flash Ultra II 1GB is $25. I know it doesn't seem like a lot, but for a kid who already jumped into debt I'd rather save it if I can.
Should I get the Ultra II? Worth the $25 more? I don't *think* I'll be doing a lot of consecutive photos, hmm...

I have both. Standard card writes at 1MB per second, and the Ultra II around 1.1MB per second on my tests. I've seen reports the Ultra will do about 1.4 on the 300D but not mine. Worth it? Not really, unless you're upgrading cameras within a few months. I shot 4 RAW images with both and timed the cards, and barely saved 1 second.

Hm. My next camera wont be for at least 2 years lol. By then, I hope that 4GB flash cards will be standard :) (Not liking microdrive cards for now...)
I guess another advantage is moving files from the card to your computer, eh? According to Sandisk, the Ultra II "Have a minimum sustained write speed of 9MB per second and a read speed of 10MB per second.". It'll speed up things when I shove it into a CF card reader, given that it's USB2.0?

You dont say what camera youve got but its probably not worth it untill you get to a 20D or the 1D cameras, the D60, 10D and 300D are not very fast.
Saying that if your using a Card reaber to connect to your computer and youve also got USB2 a fast card would be worth it.

With the Rebel you will not notice any difference in the speed at which your camera works, this is a limitation of the Rebel and not the card. So if you are looking for a card to speed up your shooting then forget it.
What the faster cards will do is give you faster transfers to your computer via a card reader so if this is important to you then buy one.
For $25 more i would probably buy one as it will come in useful if you upgrade your camera to say a 20D. But if money is really tight then forget it.
