I just wanted to mention that every part of this photo is part of it's meaning, I realize that some may not like the turned back, but it's actually there for a reason.

I get so caught up in photography sometimes that I refuse to keep it simple (not necessarily a good thing), when I look and see meaning in what I see....the problem how can one portray something that is subjective.

I guess photography is better off being simple, and not an editorial.

This is a simple, yet thought provoking photograph. I like it a lot. It might carry more power if it was converted to black and white. Just a thought.....

I disagree with this sentiment completely. Don't be so hard on yourself here...I too think it's a great shot! I tend to think that once you've moved beyond the snap shot, photography tends to fall into 2 categories, the artistic and photojournalism. Photojournalism is, by it's very nature, quite editorial...that's part of it's purpose (IMHO). While the point of photojournalism is to "document" something that is happening, often that something has some kind of editorial statement...which is why it's happening in the first place.

While my own work is more of the artistic, I do have a deep appreciation for photojournalism and I think your image here is a very fine example of that. Good job!

I hope that made sense and I'll stop now before I confuse it any more.

I did try it in B&W, dor some reason the colour stood out to me more.
