Really, really good. Like the lighting, especially... no, wait - all of them!
What's your gear - lens, flash, diffusers etc?

Thanks for all the comments :D
What's your gear - lens, flash, diffusers etc?
All shot with a 20D, Sigma 70-200 2.8 on 56mm of Kenko tubes (I think, it may have been 48). I think the EXIF is still intact - I had the camera on fully manual, and they should be fairly consistent (ISO 200, f8, 1/250-1/500). I used a Sigma 500 DG Super on the hotshoe with a stofen diffuser (pointed directly forward), manually set at 1/16 power.

Well that's awesome. I guess you're far enough away that the on-camera flash still hit the subjects. Manual flash though - that's interesting. I started looking into trying manual flash, but started getting a little difficult when the subject (bug) is 150mm from front of lens. I think even 1/64 power is too much. Decided E-TTL best.

I'd say for most of them I was between 1 and 2 feet away, sometimes a little closer. Because I had my exposure locked and was thinking of the flash as fill, as long as I stayed reasonably consistent with my distance the manual flash setting worked fine. 1-2 feet would be the difference of a stop of fill (which the constant ambient would then be added to).
