Did this one in Louisiana, also. Don't usually do table scapes.

I'll try to offer some specific comments. First, the light completely burns out at the lamp. That's distracting. Second, the who picture seems a bit soft or fuzzy. I suspect a slow shutter speed. You would need a tripod with such a slow shutter speed. Also, it's not clear to me what the composition is trying to show me. Are the flowers the picture? If so, they should be more prominent. Finally, your white balance is off. You took the picture in tungsten lighting, hence the yellow-orange cast.
The good news is you can keep trying, fix a couple things each time, and continue working at the art of photography. Keep shooting.

It's overexposed. Try a different angle.

Good idea, just work and experiment with it.
The light from the lamp is washed out, it need to be out of the picture or dimmer, with some additional light out of the picture to make up for the dimmer bulb.
You also need a tripod, as the image is blurry, and/or double check the focus.

Thanks for the comments. This is not my "cup to tea" either. If I get a chance to go back, maybe I can slow down and do a real shot.

I saw the burn out, and the color balance problems. I think the composition is OK, the roses seem prominent enough to me. Oddly, I first thought the soft focus was intentional, and I sort of liked it. It gives the image an old, mysterious feel. If it was from hand holding at a slow shutter speed, I think intentionally softening the focus might give even better results. Oh, one last thing. I think the camera angle is a little too high.
