She's cute (even with the food on her face and dirt under her nails), if I say so myself - I'm her dad.
This is my first post, and thought this would be as good a start as any. I don't remember all the specs, but it was shot later in the day last summer with my dRebel and some sort of long lens zoom. I'm betting it was iso 100 or 200, because I keep it as low as possible.
So what do you think? Should I have photoshopped the food/dirt away?

I forgot to mention - This was her pose. I just said, "Shannon, can I take your picture?", and she leaned against the wall, rested her head on her hands just so, and smiled. I get the feeling I'm going to be doing this a lot.

What a gorgeous photo of an absolute gem. If the dirt bothers you, ps it out, otherwise it's fine. Personally, I do remove the various items left behind on my children's faces - I find it distracting otherwise. My three year old has made me an expert with that healing brush!

Perfect. Beautiful. There is nothing in this world that comes close to the look of a child's eyes. Enlarge it. Frame it. Hang it for all to see.

Great shot and lovely girl.
Concerning photoshopping it, I'd say it depends on the purpose of the shot. If you take pictures to preserve memories, then I wouldn't edit it one bit. You'd be removing part of the essence of the child IMHO. Anyway she looks lovely despite any dirt.
If you're trying to make some sort of artistic/photographic statement then perhaps...
Personally I'd leave it :D

Thanks to all for the encouraging comments, and I believe I'll leave it as is. The beauty surpassiing the dirt. I have a frame collage that I use for the best pix of my kids that I update yearly. You have convinced me that this is the one for Shannon. Now to decide on the pictures for her 4 brothers ...

Actually I would not change a thing. It is a natural shot. I really like it.
