I don't know about that specific lens, but most lens adapters have a female side and a male side. In other words there is only one piece that the lens fits into and which also fits into the camera mount. Sometimes you need 2 adapters for a generic lens -- i.e., a T-mount-to-M42-adapter, and an M-42-to-Canon-EOS-adapter. I have used an old 500MM Spiratone T-mount lens on my 10D in this way. Same with an old Tamron SP 500mm mirror lens.

Thanks Stuartf287, The lens has a Canon adapter on the end that screws on the lens but looks the same as my camera on the other end so to adapt it to my EOS rebel you are saying I need another adapter that is male on both ends? I took 2 camera body caps and glued them together to make a homemade adapter which works but the length is too much and I can't focus at over 30 ft.

Ah-i think you have the wrong canon adapter!
It sounds like you have the older 'FD' canon manual focus model adapter which does indeed look alot like the camera mount
That's because the FD mount had the camera as the 'male' end and the lens was the 'female' end. Canon EOS are the other way 'round (besides being different in allmost every other way too)
Is the ebay auction still online or could you take a pic of the lens and adapter?
Your lens is either an M42 screwmount or the very similar T-mount.Adapters for either of these are cheap and easy to get-we just gotta get the right one for you :)
