I have a profile on LinkedIn.com but so far, no contact but I only start one month ago...

It's free to create a profile so can't hurt. If nothing else, it might help your google ranking.

Yes, it helps you keep in touch with your clients, contacts, etc. If you join hoping to just have people link with you, it won't do much for you. But if you have clients or contacts that use it, linking with them is a great way to keep in touch. Same with Facebook.
