I have asked for quotes to build a fast/poerful PC with high storage for our business. This PC will be used for editing (Light Room and CS3), processing and storage... Please give me your thoughts:

6 Bay ATX Mid Tower Case w/450W power supply
ASUS P5N-E SLI Motherboard ATX
Intel Core2 Quad 2.4GHZ LGA775 8MB L2 Cache
Apacer 4GB DDR2
(3) WD 1000GB 7200RPM ATA 100 Hard Drives (3 Drive Raid)
Lighon 20X DVDRW drive
Logitech Deluxe Internet USB Keyboard & RX300 Mouse
windows XP
A video card

I would get a name brand power supply (like an Enermax, FSP)...not just a generic power supply in some random case, and personally I would probably opt for a little more power.

Typically when you run 3 hard drives in RAID, you are running RAID 5. I would not recommend this for your application. Also, you don't necessarily need 3 1000GB (1TB) drives.
You want a separate drive for your OS, a (big) drive for file storage and a drive for the PS scratch disk. Probably an external hard drive for backup would be a good idea as well.

I would also add a DVD ROM drive for those times when you want to copy a disk on the fly, and I'd also add an internal card reader.

Sounds a lot like my computer. Well, except for the "Windows" part. :)

Sounds good, but I will also second what bacchana (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/member.php?u=88398)l (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/member.php?u=88398) said.

Get a decent power supply, and don't worry about the RAID.
The RAID is best done in a NAS box, or similar remote storage device where it can be properly monitored and fixed away from the PC if something goes wrong.
The power supply is one of the most important, but over looked parts of any system. You don't need lots of power (450W is heaps) but you do need high quality power.

Since this is going to be a dedicated work station I would run 3 discs:
1 x 80gb for OS and programs.
1 x 20-100gb ultra fast 10,000rpm drive for the scratch
2 x 1TB drive for storage. Use some back up software to keep one as a copy of the other (Karens replicator is good for a basic set up), and also keep at least 1 remote storage, 2 is better.

That would make a very efficient work station at a very reasonable price.

4 gig of ram is a wasted with windows XP, i'd get XP64 or Vista64

For the PS, like others said, go with a beefier brand name especially if you plan to run alot of HDs.

Depending on what kind of monitors you plan to drive, look into a nicer card.

For HDs, checkout the Spinpoint F1. Gets pretty good numbers for a 7200rpm. the other option is the WD640. Smaller but runs fast and cool.

Quite similar to what I am running at the moment:

720W PSU
Asus P5Q Pro P45 Motherboard
Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz
4GB Corsair Dominator
2 x 1TB Samsung F1 Spinpoint
2 x 160GB back up drives
ATi HD4850

Runs nicely, but the processor was actually a little slow. Overclocked to 3.2GHz makes a significant difference.

oh, and you dont want ATA100 drives, get SATA II 300

I have to agree with mccadkat. You definitely want some SATA drives instead of those ATA's. You might also want to look at 500GB drives instead. I am not a fan of 1TB drives yet. I would also suggest the Asus P5K-E motherboard unless you feel you need the SLI chipset. For power supplies I would suggest Corsair. I just built my new computer a couple of weeks ago.
Q6600 2.4 Quad
Asus P5K-E
4 GB Mushkin Ram (I am running Vista 32 and 4 GB ram is working fine. If I ever go to 8 I will switch to Vista 64)
3 Segate 500GB 32MB Buffer 7200 Sata II drives
Corsair 550watt power supply (really nice, has all the cables bundled in wrapping so they are easy on cable management.)
