the first shot I like on the swing but wanted to crop it -- then I tried cropping it and not sure why it breaks up...this was not a problem in pictures I had taken before but now the last two sets it seems to be a problen.....and I am not sure what has changed to cause it to be so... can any one explain what is happining here??

actually I think I have answered my own question I am thinking this is happining because I used the 85mm lense and then tried to crop that shot would that make sense that this picture is kinda like pixelated ???

I think you completely lost me. What is the issue? Both pictures look ok to me, though the second is too small to be sure.

DANG!

You pesky kids these days and your groovy slang. What does "breaks up" mean?

ok it looks good on this stupid little picture..LOL but on ps6 when I take the big picture and make the crop you see...and then put it to fit screen it is all broken up pixelated (? is that a term??) I never had this problem before but now the last 2 sets of pics I have taken in PS6 I can't do a close crop with out it looking like crap...ummm broken up like little blocks of her face all put together... I am just not getting why and when i resized the pic it looks fine on here unless you cut and paste it and make it bigger you will see what I am talking about... I thought It might be the 85 but I do not think so ...
maybe someone can try and crop the 1st image and see if it happens to you,,, thanks!

Ahh.... are you using the cropping tool or are you using the marquee and then selecting Image>Crop ?

If you are using the cropping tool there is an option to choose both the size and the DPI (resolution) value. The size value can be measured in pixels (shows as px in the toolbar) or inches (in on the tool bar). If your DPI value is very low, you get some serious pixelation. 72 is perfect for web use, 240-350 is perfect for most photo-quality print pictures.

Maybe that is the issue?

If you are cropping and don't want to change the resolution, it is sometimes easier to just use the square selection marquee and then chose Image>Crop. Then you can resize to whatever final size you want afterwards.

I have always used the crop tool... but I just used the marquee tool and hit crop and it works So are you supposed to use crop tool or marquee tool...or just use what works??
