It is tropical fish season here in the north east US. Since I was young, I would spend hours looking for tropical strays in our waters. These are some I caught last week. All were taking in a photo tank with a black background.

For those that are interested in the strays, here is an article I wrote about them

Here is a lookdown, it is about an inch in length

This is a short big eye, about 3/4" in length

and one of my favorites, the striped burrfish. It is a type of pufferfish, and when spooked will inflate and small litle spikes will stick out from its body. This little guy is about 3/4"

Excellent shots Chris and an interesting article too. That burrfish is amazing. Great photograph of it too considering it is so small. :)

Thanks for looking. Tropical collecting has been very adicting to me, that is why I get paid to do it for a living now. Every year brings something different. All these fish look so much different as adults as well.

Unfortunatly, they tend to look much different as adults. They are still cool looking fish, but they just loose the long fins, and their colors are not as vivid.
thanks
