Playing with my new toy - 135mm f/2L - at less than the 3 ft MFD. It's a purple coneflower with a slight breeze (about 2-1/2 feet or so away).
1/800 sec ~ f/2. Something different.

Does it cause serious CA in highlight areas? The 85 is a little lax in that dept., but, if you figure it out, it's not bad at all. Whites at 1.2, Rims at f1.2, stuff like that...causes serious CA. At least it's a consistent purple, so, easily detectable...oh well. Just curious if the 135 exhibits any, if at all wide open?

I have not observed any CA (yet) with this lens. In one of those Monarch photos I thought I saw some purple fringing, but upon further review, you may be able to make out the fact that there is an ANT walking across the flower...THAT made me chuckle. So no, nothing yet and I don't recall reading anything specific regarding the issue with the 135.

Disregard that last post - I shot the Monarchs with the 300... that means definitely not.

All good. The 85L at 1.2, one HAS to pay attention to the bg. and bright objects. Not an issue for me...though, I just train myself what to look for.
