I built it this past weekend with some plastic i had laying around the house.
I also had the colored 12x12 gels that i got from B&H awhile ago.

6) The filter holder just slips over the end of my flash and velcro. Its a nice fit

Looks nice, but does the foam cover up a bit of the flash head? It looks like it probally doesn't. Can you post more details on the construction?

Looks nice, but
some plastic i had laying around the house.
What exactly would this "some plastic" be?

In other words, how can we make our own? ;)

It looks good, but I would suggest cutting slots 1/8" wide or so, on the top and bottom behind the flange. This will allow some air flow to allow cooling.

Gels absorb a significant amount of energy and convert it to heat. The black color of the gel holder will get hot, too.

Thanks guy for the complements and suggestions.

Curis-Thats a great idea, shouldnt be to hard to cut that slots. My gel is about an 1" to 1.5" from the flash face.

Doidinho-Didnt use any foam, all plastis. The front opening is the same size as the out side edge of the flash. So nothing is coving the flash head. I will try to post more details of how i made it soon.

Cdifoto-My some plastic was a 2foot x 4foot 1/8 black ABS plastic i have. I keep couple sheets of plastic around the house for various types of projects, like this one. The thinner plastic i got from Staples, its a black portfolio letter size folder, #10728-CC
