You can't. It has been said that Canon can do it, but normal mortals such as us cannot.

People can take an estimate of how many shots their camera has taken, or if they've never reset the file numbering then they can work it out from folder and file number.

Yeah. I've reset the file numbering on my P-n-S several times now. But, on my 10D, I leave it. For servicing purposes. :)
