View Full Version : How active do I need to be to keep notifications coming?

It seems like mail notifications stop if you don't visit here regularily, I'm just wondering how soon they get turned off? It feels like I need to go here almost daily, but I'd prefer to still get email notifications to my subscribed threads even if I'm away from here for some time.

The software sends you an email to let you know someone has posted on a thread you are subscribed to. It usually doesn't send you any more - unless you are online and browsing the site at the time others post on that subscribed thread.
It's not designed to let you know about all subsequent posts.
Does that help?

Maybe I'm drawing incorrect conclusions from what I think I see but ... what I mean is if I am not visiting for a while I don't get any notifications at all about updates to my threads. If I then visit the site (not even one of my threads) the notifications start coming again. My guess is this is by design to eventually stop sending a lot of email to people who no longer visit the site at all, which makes sense. I just think the cut-off time is too short as it's not uncommon to not visit for a few days to a week.

There are no settings to define this.
As John says the forum will only send one notification on threads updated after your last visit. If a thread gets 2 new posts with 2 weeks between and you have not read the thread meanwhile you will only receive one notification.

OK, I must have skipped reading a notification now and then and mistaken what happend then for some kind of time-out function. Thanks for the clarification.
