Ian, Scott and myself got today and ventured back out to Omega Parc which is about and hour and a half outside of Montreal.
The day was proceeding quite nicely. We had made one loop through the park when Ian decided that we should do it again. Oh how we knew his mind was wandering. Once we got into the park he paid little attention to Scott and I. We passed the elk again and we could just tell something was different about Ian. I will give him credit he resisted and we continued on our way. We were slowly working our way back towards the front gates, in fact we could see the gates but we had one last group of elk to get past. We could see the twinkle in Ian's eyes. It is such a sad thing to see.
First it started with just a little hugging:

Then it happened we saw Ian take the carrot and put it in his mouth. We knew what was coming. Scott and I sat there in disbelief, how could he subject us to this yet again. Does he have no shame.

Oh puhleese....not in front of the children.

Seriously, a good time was had by all and we had a great laugh over the end of the day.
I give credit to Scott for taking the shots with my camera as I was in the back seat.

Seriously though, nice shots, the 4th one is my favorite. The babies are always the cutest.

I can't see Ian's face completely, but there seems to be a slight resemblance between him and the youngster. Am I reading too much into that? Coincidence?
Great shots, guys, it's easy to see you had a lot of fun.

Ian must be made moderator for the "Nature and Animals" forum. Look how good he gets along with the animals :).
You can see the love in the elk's eyes in the second picture.
I can't wait to come up there for on GCPS and see with my own eyes... That's after I get the 100-400 (it'll have to wait more, since I crashed my car 2 days ago :()

Sheldon:
I want you to ask yourself, "How much money have I spent on Photography equpment just to get pictures of this?"
I'm wondering why he didn't at least pick the cute one.
Thanks for not posting pictures of what happened next.

Well, Sheldon, I can see you guys are having a blast up there and that I'm missing all the fun. :(
See any kangaroos yet? ???

BTW, tell Scott not to get too used to shooting with the 1DmkII I remember him telling us he never wants to try out somebody else's equipment for fear that he may end up buying one for himself if he likes it. :D
Anyway, nice shots, Scott.

I am truly jealous of the ladys you allways have flocking around you... Carrots, or carats, are an open secret! The older we get... ;-)

As sad as Ian's debauchery is, what's even sadder is that I'm getting used to it....
Leo: He *forced* me to use the MkII. I did refuse trying the 500L, though. I was relatively safe with the MkII in my hands because it's just not on my list unless I hit the lottery. The 500L, though, can not be touched as I could conceivably get that at any time - but it wouldn't be wise....

Actually it could be frozen elk slobber as they certainly were doing that and it was cold enough.

OK, I feel I must set the situation straight. Yesterday was January 15th, 14 days after New Years Day. Since this was my first trip to Omega since last year, I felt that it was just the right thing to do to wish all the residents a Happy New Year. Since the wolves, coyotes and several other species are enclosed for their own protection, the only residents you can actually get really really close to are the deer family and of course the buffalo and various pigs. (4 legged type) Have you ever tried to shake hands with a elk? Those hooves are kinda big and sharp. A hearty Happy New Year and a wee peck on the muzzle is much more personnel.
Marie, that is my goatee, I think.:):):):):):):):):):):)
