So I was making tatertots the other day and I thought to myself, "I wonder what I look like to those tater tots?". Well....today I found out.

Did you really find out... or did you only find out what you looked like to the tater tots "before" you were making them? You don't pre-heat do you? ;)

Thanks all!

I like the premise.just rid yourself of those reflections..

The oven bulb reflection was part of the picture (how else would I be able to see the taters? :p

Nice picture, it would be nice to see some food between the camera and the oven window though even if its out of focus food. But I wouldn't put my camera in an oven and definitely not an oven with food at the same time, good photo ;)

Have no fear, the camera is safe. The heating elements (and all associated reflections) were photoshopped into looking 'hot'.

I would have added food, but I ate all my tatertots the first go round.

Love the concept. It feels snapshotish to me though. Could you shoot it with a CPL to knock down the reflections? I know that would be a lot of trial and error.

Or, maybe its the fact that the shot has such a tungsten color to it.

While I agree it is a bit warm, I was actually hoping for that color. I mean the point was that the oven was ON and the tungsten bulb is on (to help see the food).

I think I'll retry it with a remote flash unit in the oven with the camera and I'll bounce the light off the back of the oven.

Thanks for the CC all.

Or......

Take a cpl, which will knock down some of the reflection on the glass, then put some more light on your face. If your (face, room) color temp is balanced (it appears to be in the photo) then I think i like the tungsten feel better. Leave the oven alone at that point, and let the orange come out.

Yeah, and clean the oven. :)

Good idea about seeing some food.anticipation is what we need to see.
Lol about eating the tatertots first...:p

10 OUT OF 10 for creativity, very ammusing shot.
However i am very disappointed that you placed the the need to feed above inventive photographic experimentation by eating all the Tatertots :D:D;)

Whatever the hell they are:(

I love it, but the next session clean the glass. LOL... I agree a CPL will do a lot to cut the reflections.

I liked it and tried it! My oven's window is gigantic though, so it didn't really work.

I'm a typical fat American (skinnier than most, but fatter than a lot), disappointed as you may be, you had better not be surprised. :D

Tater tots, a great american snack (they are waging an on-going campaign with french fries (or what ya'll refer to as "chips", and what some redne....I mean patriotic rural folk call "freedom fries" :p )).

I have to agree with Peter...you get a full 10 for creativity! That has, without a doubt got to be one of the best...or at least original, "self portraits" I've seen in a very long time! That's one I never would have thought of in a thousand years...

-Very- well done!

Just one question...how is it you didn't melt anything on the camera having the oven coils on like that?

Tatertots....great...now I got the munchies!

Peace,
Jim

A definite 10 for creativity and execution. Nice job.

My hunger pains are now demanding a trip to the local Sonics.

I also laughed and loved this shot when I saw it. The oven wasn't actually on Jim, that's photoshop heat :)
