I'm considering starting to shoot in RAW mode, but I honestly have no idea what I'm doing. I can set the camera to RAW and I can move the RAW images from my CF card to the computer. But, past that, I'm lost. Can anyone point me to a tutorial so that I can try to learn it fairly quickly?
Thanks

Open the raw files with the DDP software that came with your camera. There are menu choices there that are for raw files only. Start playing with them, you will catch on fast.

And if you want it even simpler, opne up the RAW in EVU. It'll be more intuitive than DPP if you've never worked with RAW before.

Hi FlipsidE,
I were like you, thinking RAW is very complicated...but it's really not. Just open the file in DPP (which I used) and everything will be very obvious to you. It will only take few seconds to know RAW.
BTW, if I'm not mistaken, you can download DPP if you have the Rebel.

Bruce Fraser wrote a small book recently on using Adobe Camera Raw. It is definitely worth owning. You can find it at Amazon.com

The Bruce Fraser book is "Camera RAW for Photoshop CS", or something like that. It's an excellent book even if you don't use photoshop... but obviously it's much better if you do.

http://www.digitalworkflows.com/conversion/nl~canon/workflow.phpCHEERS Frank! This looks like a straightforward site for an explanation of RAW workflow. :D

I prefer to process my RAW images using PSE 3.0 because it gives realtime previews of adjustment unlike the File Utility provided by Canon. Canon's program would blank the screen before applying an adjustment so you couldn't really compare A to B.
