currently i have a starblitz manual flash, im in the market for a speedlite 580 mk1 or 2 depending on funds.
can you get a slave receiver that can be triggered by the 580 so that i could use the starblitz as a second off camera flash?
did have a search about but couldnt find anything obvious..
cheers guys

You could use an optical slave trigger, but take note that the Canon flash will use a preflash when in E-TTL mode. So you would need to get a slave trigger that can ignore a preflash, or else put the 580 into manual mode.

No, not necessarily. It all depends on how you want to operate the flashes. When working with multiple flashes or strobes, the mode of operating them is usually manual. So, it that case, you can get a simple optical slave trigger which you can use to fire your Starblitz flash triggered by a 580EX also in manual mode.
If you don't want to deal with the flashes in manual mode and would rather work them in ETTL mode, then, of course, the Starblitz would have be be taken out of the picture since it is not ETTL compatible. In that case, all your flashes would have to be ETTL compatible.
