I am looking to get a good monopod, one capable of holding a D60 and a larger lens. Not sure on which lens yet, but will reference the Sigma 120-300 2.8 as it is pretty heavy. The lens that I end up getting will be no heavier than that one (I think it is about 5 1/2 pounds).

I am also 6'3" tall and most of the monopods I have seed are not tall enough. Can anyone recommend a monopod for a taller guy?

Thanks,
Tim

Gitzo 78" (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=171012&is=REG) should work for you.

Tim:
You might want to check out some of the Manfrotto monopods. I have the Manfrotto 682 Pro SS. It's rated for a maximum capacity of about 26 pounds and extends to about 67 inches. I'm 6-foot and it works just fine for me. Manfrotto also makes a carbon-fibre model (Manfrotto 449) which extends to 70 inches.
cheers,
jim

I have the Bogen/Manfrotto 3245 as seen here:

I'm 6'4, and I have no problems with it.

I have a Bogen 682B with a 3232 tilt head on it. I use it mostly with my video euipment. Gets as tall as you will ever need, has legs concealed in the bottom.

I don't need to be tall to know that my Bogen 682B extends over my head.

I have a Slik 381 carbon fibre monopod. Incredibly light and very sturdy. I stand just over 6 feet and can't raise this to it's full length as it is too tall for me then.

Price wise it was not too bad at around 75.00 canadian.

as we are in a monopod question...please allow me to go off the tangent a little...

what's a good and economical head (say, below $35) on a monopod for holding the drebel and tamron 28-75?

many thanks.

Which head is good for 400mm L2.8 on monopod?

Or simply just attach the len direct on the monopod?

A ballhead similar to this one (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=272987&is=REG)would be a good choice.
