Hi, I am a newbie with an A95. All the reviews I read prior to buying said this was a great point and shoot camera. All of my indoor pictures on auto come out too dark. I used flash and had all the lights in the room on. Used a tripod. Any suggestions?

If they're too dark, maybe your camera is defective. But try some more pictures before giving up. The A series cameras from Canon are good but occasionally you could run into a bad one. There aren't too many things to adjust when shooting at Automatic. It might be worth setting to P on the dial and trying again. There also you have more adjustment options, such as strength of flash and F-stop compensation. On my A70 set at automatic the flash pictures are too bright when I'm closer than about four feet.

It looks to me like the flash never even went off. I agree, if I get a little too close with my A75 the pics turn out too bright. I have to stay back at least about 7 or 8 feet for them to look decent. About 10 feet for good results.

thanks for the input. I guess if I had to choose between flash too strong or too weak, I would choose weak. It is easier i think to correct if they are dark rather that blown out.

Just an update. I kept trying and pics didn't improve. So, I called Canon and they looked at this picture on line and said, "Yep, you gotta a problem. Probably the sensor, send it in". So off it goes. This really sucks since I have only had it for about a month. They promised it back within 15 days. No camera for 15 days!!!! Sob, cry, sniffle.
