Hi!
I came to this forum few weeks ago, saying I'd buy a 450D, but still haven't got to it. Soon I will take the leap.
Quick question about a card reader. I am thinking of getting a 4GB SD Sandisk III Extreme (unless anyone has any advise not to) and am worried whether it will work with my card reader. I know my reader can read a 2GB card.
The reason I'm asking is because there is this other card reader that can't detect my 2GB card. I'm worried the same thing might happen.

Thanks!

Not all card readers are created equal. Some of the cheaper ones dont support some of the larger cards. I would check for SDHC computability prior to purchasing a card reader if I were using SD.

Ive never had any problems with sandisk in a card reader, but I have read that some cheaper offbrand cards have problems with some readers.

Yep ... the first thing to do is check if your card reader can read SDHC formats. Many laptop card readers can't. The Sandisk Extreme III cards I've purchased have all come with a little USB 2.0 card reader, which works fine.

If your reader says SDHC on the front then it will work, if it doesn't then use the small one that comes with the card.

In fact, you should probably just skip the one you've got now and use the one that comes with the card as it's pretty fast; much faster than the one that is installed in my system at home.
