Hi all,

I am using a 20D for a while (2 months) now and something funny happened with the first three characters of the filename. The first three characters used to be IMG folowed by an underscore and 4 numbers. All of a sudden this changed to _MG followed by an underscore and 4 numbers, why? Does anybody know? How can I change the first three characters? I can't find it in the manual.

Canon uses the name to indicate the color profile used to create the shot. "_MG" in the filename means you're shooting in Adobe RGB 1998 mode, as opposed to sRGB mode. There's no way to get the camera to change the name, although it's easy with another tool. Adobe RGB 1998 is a larger color space, meaning that it can record more colors than the default sRGB space (which is the default for the web). If you really don't know/care, then you can switch back to sRGB from the menu.

Ah.... Thanks
That explains it. I started shooting in Adobe RGB color space about a week ago! After looking at one of the sticky threads and some great advice how to handle it with PSE from this forum. You guy's are terrific!
