I just got a new computer and installed my two printers. One is an Epson CX3800 and the other a Epson R1800. The CX3800 works great. My R1800 is not printing true to color at all.
Has anyone else had this problem when upgrading. They both worked great with XP.

I did some research and was recommened to use the Adobe RGB setting on my camera and change my Adobe settings to North American Prepress. I did that and my printer still did not work. I played around with the color settings and chose Monitor color with Perpetual intent and my R1800 is printing perfectly. In my print preferences I choose ICM and no color adjustment.
Can anyone predict any problems that might come by using those settings?

"Playing around" with the color settings is not a good idea, unless you understand them.
That being said, it should not matter much what your default working space is, unless you make some other mistakes in there. Setting "monitor color" is one of them.
Where did you set "monitor color"? If in the PS color prefs, then you just turned off color management...
Have a read in the link from my sig.

You've probably already done this, but just in case, did you download the Vista drivers on this page?

I'm assuming you already use the paper profiles, but if not you can download them from the same page.
I have the same printer with Vista and get perfect prints using these settings:
Color space: North American Prepress 2
Color Handling: Photoshop Manages Colors
Printer Profile: SPR1800 PrmGlsy PhotoRPM.icc
Rendering Intent: Relative Colorimetric (Some will say Perceptual is better, but I've tried both and my prints look better with a setting of Relative Colorimetric)
Black Point Compensation Checked
Of course, before all this I soft proof my image, but that's a whole 'nother subject which is covered here:

My thinking was that the colors on my monitor were perfect so that is why I chose "Monitor Color". My monitor settings are on their default.
I've started reading information from your link. Thanks for directing me there.
