Just ordered a lens from abroad but FedEx is reporting a shipment exception on its tracking site. Is this something I should be worrying about? Does anyone else have experience of this? I'm feeling a little nervous...:(

from memory it is usualy just customs or flight canceled and rescheduled or something they dont have a message for. Like an Err99 on a Canon Camera. If you are really worried just call Fedex in the UK (They will 100% have offices there) and give them the tracking number, they always have more details then are publicly displayed.

Nothing to worry about, it's quite common and should get updated again soon.

You're right, Bob. My lens has now arrived in France and is only a short hop across the Channel away. Phew! :)

I worked as a FedEx courier for almost three years and we used them all the time. A "shipment exception" is just that - an exception. The reasons could be anywhere from "recipient unavailable, signature required" to "not due for delivery" to "held for customs".

The only exception to be concerned about is "undeliverable, return to shipper". ;)

No need to worry at all - my lens arrived yesterday in perfect condition and on time. I'm now the proud owner of a shiny new 400 f/5.6 L. :D
