I went out today and saw some great birds but I did not have much luck photographing them. These Hooded Mergansers were some distance off and in poor light. They are really great looking birds though. I saw a Loon and an Old Squaw, but they were really far away and after cropping and enlarging, the image came out flat looking with a lot of noise.

The sky today was really overcast, I didnt really know how to set the camera. The AEB function on the 20D came in in really handy.

Oh well, there is always tomorrow.

Nice shot. Hooded Mergansers are very skittish birds, and do not suffer us humans lightly :) Well done to get this good shot of them! The next time I try to shoot these guys, I plan to take a blind and spend a long time letting them get used to me being there in the blind.
