I have PS Elements 2.0 already and I need a program to handle RAW. I can either get a version of Photoshop 6 (from a friend) and buy the plug-in, or should I buy the new Elements 3 to handle this? How much does the PS 6 RAW plug-in cost?
I'm using the 20D by the way.
Thank you.

Adobe's RAW plug-in is free, but I'm pretty sure it does not support Photoshop 6.

It is illegal to borrow a software from friend and install it on your computer, I would suggest buying a PS Elements 3 and get a free update from Adobe or you can use DDP from Canon to convert your RAW files.

Adobe Photo Raw for Photoshop 7 was about $100 when it was available. I understand Adobe pulled it when they released Photoshop CS. Your best bet is probably Elements. I've heard of some members getting it for around $50 after rebates. Not sure where. Someone?

I agree with the above posts, go with PSE 3.

Currently the only version of Photoshop that support raw files is PS CS (Version 8)
The plugin released for PS-7 is no longer available for one thing,.. and more important. it dod not support any of the newer cameras.. nor can it be updated to do so.
That means no 1DmkII, no 20D, and no other newer cameras as they come out.
The only Photoshop to get is PSCS,. or as I understand it,. Elements 3?
