I noticed that I just can't seem to get exact what is on my screen as far as "color cast". Yes it is B&W but all B&W seem to have some cast to them??
Example background just seem to be off a little.
You really have to put the print up to screen to see it.
Wife says "I am too picky".
Yes monitor is calibrated with Huey.

A bit more info maybe?
What printer, what software, what settings? Do you compare to the softproof? Under what lighting conditions?

Printer is Epson R1800, using LR and CS3. Gone back to sRGB color space.
Monitor is calibrated with Huey.
Guess I don't know what you mean when you say do I compare to softproof?
And when you say lighting - do you mean in room. If so it is normal room light with some light coming in from window.

Softproofing is done in PS. A few links explaining it in the link from my sig.

Well, obviously, if you view the print in dim tungsten lighting, it will look yellower and darker. Compare in good daylight.
Here is an article: Click (http://www.kevinmillsphoto.com/Articles/OfficeLightingArticle.html)
An image on screen will always look different from a printed one, since one is light emitted, the other light reflected.
If you do it right however, a softproof will be pretty darn close to a print.
