I love those early morning drives to the beach to get great low light photos.

I took it at a place called Kuaotunu Beach on the East Coast of New Zealand. Drove a couple of hours from home to get there by 4.30am, just on the off chance that it would be a good morning, and was rewarded with a moonrise and sunrise!

haha, you should set your alarm clock! I'm a bit of a night owl, it's 2.30 am in Auckland, New Zealand at the moment, but my only shoot today is a portrait at 2.00pm, so I can sleep in!! I wish I was in Paris, Eugene Atget is one of my Idols!

I once set my alarm clock at 5h am and guess what ? I got up at 5h to turn off the alarm and fell down again into bed until 9, I nearly got sacked that day. It was Monday, lol.
You're right, Paris is great (no doubt about that, i'm living in :-))

I'm tossing up between the 1D II or that Kodak 14/n, The price difference is huge, taking into consideration that I would have to replace all my current Nikon Lenses. However, I'm not really happy with Nikon at the moment, they just don't seem to be progressing in the same way that Canon is, full frame CCD etc. I currently use a Fuji Finepix S2 Pro, which take Nikon lenses.

Just the round the corner from Matarangi, right? v.nice!Spot on, yeah, I used to have a place down there, and sometimes, when I feel like getting out of the city, I jump in the car and cruise off. The whole coromandel area is inspiring.

You are going to laugh....30sec at 2.8 with a 16mm fisheye, there is a little bit of cropping. I was surprised that there was so little grain(noise) as it was at 1600.

Stunning image.
And what a surreal feel to it.
I didn't think I had heard of the place, but after hearing it was next to Matarangi, where I have been before (http://wazz*****scity.com/flight.htm), I had a look at my coromandel photos I took, whilst driving through, doing the coastal route back from last summers holiday at the Mount.

Looks rather different. Your image captured greatness.
Only managed to stop a few times, with the girlfriend, as she was sick.
