Greetings again board members,

Just picked up a used Novatron 880+ pack w/ 5 heads. Now I want to shoot outside (far from a power source) but Novatron doesn't offer any type of battery, at least for the older pack/head systems. I know I could rent a generator, but how about this:

It seems like an automotive battery and a 12vDC-to-120vAC power inverter would provide a cool portable power source. I found a 400watt converter at an auto supply store for only $29. I'm assuming it would charge my pack, but would take longer to recycle it than a 800w or 1200w inverter would.

Has anyone tried somethinig like this, or am I living in a dream world? (again...)

just look at your regular AC charger : does it have a fuse on the boack or somewhere ?
If any, what's the rating ? If 3A or less, you should have no problem (3 amps @ 120 VAC are 360VA, could be more or less considered as being 400 W).
Give it a try! After all, $29 are nothing compared to the price of the 5 head pack, hu ? :-)
