I'm wondering if it is and advantage to upgrade this software as there seems to be a lot of problems in the Forum ?

Yes,
1) Downloading from the camera:
Downloading images from the camera is much faster in ZoomBrowser 3.2/3.3. I like the camera window in Canon Zoombrowser with images from the camera.
After download in separate folder deregister this folder.
If you prefer - you could use a free downloader like Breeze downloader.
2) Raw Image converting:
ZoomBrowser 3.2/3.3 will install Canon Raw Image Converter 2.0. It could be downloaded separately from Canon site.
It is also better and you could use it without starting ZB - just select the Raw files in Windows file explorer, right mouse click to open and "Convert and save by current settings". Very fast and convenient batch Raw converting.
3) For image processing use Photoshop LE (normally you would need only Unsharp mask, just ctrl-F, second time), open multiply images and use ctrl keys.
4) Image browsing:
For image browsing just use any image browser like ACDSee, Ulead Explorer etc.

I bought my G2 second hand, I was given a CD with Zoom Browser v3.1 on it.
Is Zoom Browser a free download? If I wanted to upgrade to 3.3 do I have to register or pay?
Thanks

AndyCr, Canon has made available an upgrade to the ZoomBrowser software ... the current known official version (I'm sure everyone will agree) that has been made freely available on Canon's own website is version 3.2 (the About box of the resultant software is will actually say 3.2.1)
Version 3.2 can be downloaded (instructions and all) from the following link:
http://www.canon-europa.com/home/home.html
I have downloaded it and tried it and it works well - even repaired my corrupted database.
