Scott Kelby is holding the first ever, world-wide photowalk on Saturday, August 23, 2008!
http://www.photoshopuser.com/photowalk/ (sitemay be up and down for the first few days)
I’ll be leading the Baltimore group around Fells Point. But there over 100+ cities that will be announced, so one should be close to you!
This should be an exciting event, not to mention my first photowalk! Looking forward to seeing friends and meeting a ton of new photographers in Baltimore. Sign up at the official site.

Twenty-five American cities and two European cities - hardly worldwide! (A bit like the 'World' Series!);)

Someone mentioned that on Scott's blog. I think that more cities are being added. Or you can sign up to lead one in your area.

Probably because, with the DNC starting here on the 25th, the city will be a mess that weekend.

Tried to register for the DC walk and I got an error "cannot link user to that event". I noticed that the drop-down to select city wasn't pointed to anything so I changed it to DC but now it says "email address already in use."
Don't know if it's a bug or if there was a problem because the DC walk is full, but I'd advise anybody else registering to make sure the city is selected before clicking the submit button in case it is a bug in their registration system.

Ditto... I see at least 36 registered for the DC walk. Anyone have a solution or a shortcut?

That's a classic! I've travelled all over the US and one of the things that amuses me is how often I come across place (usually in the sticks) that proclaim themselves 'World Famous', when no-one outside the State has ever heard of them!:)

Well, my friend, you should pony up and lead the one in your town to help the cause! ;)
Every year, there is a golf tournament in your neck of the woods that those Oh-So-Traditional Brits refer to as "The Open Championship" and confer on the winner the title of "Champion Golfer of The Year" - just as presumptive, in my mind. . .

Have Fun,
It has nothing to do with we 'Oh-so-traditional Brits' as you patronisingly refer to us. It's called the British Open Championship, in the same way that the event in America is called the US Open Championship and the one in Australia is called the Australian Open Championship etc. They are all called 'Open' because they are open to golfers from all over the world - unlike your World Series which, I believe, is competed for by two neighbouring countries. If you wish to be rude to us 'oh-so-traditional Brits', you should make sure your facts are right.
By the way, the word is 'presumptuous' not 'presumptive'.

They are - ain't no "British" in that name anywhere ;)
I was not being patronizing - rather affectionate, actually. I love my Norton Commando Roadster, and part of it is the unabashed traditional techniques followed by the Brits.
But please, don't infer that Americans have a corner on over-emphasizing the importance of their sporting events.

I think you are also a bit too touchy about it. I have many many American friends ( go there every year) and, without exception, they too laugh at the silliness of calling it the 'World' Series. There may be no country's name in front of 'Open' golf officially any more but the competition, you will acknowledge, is called British Open, US Open etc, and it is open to players from all over the world, not just USA and Canada.
My original comment of a couple of days ago was meant as a joke, but it obviously struck a nerve with you.

Personally, as an American, I find it funny also. BUT, there are certain subjects you don't joke about. Case in point: ANY comments regarding the International House of Pancakes will be interpreted as an act of war.

Just a little playful ribbing among members of the truly world-wide POTN community.
But to go back on topic, it would probably help the cause to have representation on the Photo Walk from Hertfordshire, don't you think? You're already there - how about it?

The "funny" thing is, after signing up for Tucson, they added Phoenix...
Which of course, is now full. I guess maybe I should have either volunteered to lead PHX or at least held out for a little while 'till PHX went on the board.
Oh well. Tucson is more photogenic anyway... :)

The same thing happened to me. I am going to Cincinnati, then Louisville opened up. The cool thing is the the king of the weddings (and a devoted Canon man) David Ziser is leading pig city -- so I stand to learn a lot.

Roy - It's a slang way of saying b-itch, intended to mean the "beotch" will be the grunt doing all of the dirty work for someone else. :-)
Anyone on here signed up for any of the NY walks? I just stumbled on this post today and all are full except for Coney Island, which is too far for a Jersey girl like me. I was hopin' someone might know if I could squeeze into one of the other walks in Manhattan?

You're welcome. Here in the states they are used interchangeably. I am by no means an expert on American lexicon so I cannot say which is easier/more widely used. As a lady, though, I appreciate the use of beotch. :-)

This has many translations -- the most common of which would be "one who performs services for money."

Per the email from my local organizer/leader, "This is a photowalk, not a parade so don't feel that you have to always stick with the main crowd. Walk and shoot at your own pace and enjoy the experience."
I would assume the same applies to your local walk.
