I wonder if anyone can help me out on this iMac issue since I am a whole PC person with a P3 800mhz PC now thinking of upgrading and switching to iMac, just wondering if the iMac can recognize my 20D without installing any drivers and is photo editing really that good using the new iphoto(OS Tiger).

LCD on imac is not good for PS work, IMHO. I've tried it and just couldn't get used to LCD on imac.

ilife will be out on the 22 of Jan, and current OS is 10.3.7 Panther. Tiger is due out in the spring. I think the Mac will see the 20D with ilife and current OS, as mine does. I have a G5 however. You will love the Mac, and the apps.

Yes, the IMac will see your camera, if you are using OSX, which you will be installed with the new IMac. You got a CD with your camera, that has both Windows, and Mac software on it. The only programs that you will probably use, are File Viewer Utility, Photostitch, and maybe Remote Capture.

I believe that the new IMac will come with Iphoto 5.0, part of Iife 05, (if not your eligible for a free upgrade (pay shipping and handling)) which will work with RAW files, so you might not even need File Viewer Utility. If you use Photoshop CS with the PC, Adobe will send you a Mac version for shipping and handling. Then you can use it to stitch photographs together, so you won't need Photostitch either.

If I'm not mistaken, the new iMacs are all monitor, and a keyboard, in either 17" or 20" versions. If you are thinking of either the 17" or the 20" display, you will have no problems with working on your pictures.

Yes, I use both Mac and MS platforms and the iMac works
beautifully with DSLRs. In fact, better & faster than Windows,
and with greater operational elegance.
