I don't get to practice real shoots too often, but today, when my boys wouldn't hold still for me...I was having a training session with my puppy and thought...let's practice "stay"
She cooperated and I got these. Any CC?

Nice photos. I just got a Jack Russel and it refuses to stay anywhere for more than a half a second. There seems to be lines going across the picture.

Love the idea and the dog has done well for posing. IMO, lighting is flat, colors lack pop. Also background needs to be more blurred, I do not like wrinkled backgrounds.

You did good with setting up the shoot. Was your shot staged in a 'product' setup? You kept the light even and flat which eliminated any shadows that would have detracted from the image. Selecting the subdued-colored cup was a fine idea. A cup with saturated colors would have competed for attention with the subject.
I don't much care for the composition in #1. Composition in #2 is much better. I'm fond of the dianonal axis upon which you placed the puppie's eyes in the 2nd shot. The shape of the cup handle directs the flow to the pup. Have you given thought about using the position of the cup's handle as a forground anchor?

These were natural light, my living room floor with a vellux blanket as the backdrop with my DH holding it up. I was bribing her to stay with bits of kitty treats (I have oodles of her with her tongue out) I was just too excited to have her sitting still I didn't really think about the "flow" or the position of her eyes! I just think she is the cutest dog on the planet.
Settings were ISO 800 (ick) F4.5 and SS 160 in both
