"How Much To Charge" w\ a little twist!

I have been asked to second shoot a Quinceanera.
The photographer who is asking me to help, is also asking me how much I want for second shooting. (I am trying to find out how long the shoot will be)

I currently work as a second shooter with a different photographer, and she pays me $10/hour, so I don't know if I should just ask this photographer for the same hourly wage.

Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions?

Put the ball in his court and ask what his budget is or what he'd be willing to pay. Is he familiar with your work?

We figured it out.
I will be getting a flat payment of $100 for 9 hours of shooting\assisting.
I just found out she is on these forums as well, so she might be reading this, hahaha.

For assisting, 100/day may be fine, but second shooting? Seems like both guys are ripping you off big time.

Well, the photographer I actually work for annually, has me assist more than second shoot. When second shooting mainly (weddings) she pays $15/hr.
This other photographer looking to hire me, as I understand, will mainly be using me as an assistant, but will also have me second shoot a bit.

yeah, $100/day doesn't sound like much, but I am 15... It's hard for me to come across $100 in a days work. Especially for doing what I love. :D

Have you thought about having a base price and then an hourly price?

ex.
75 base price + 10/hr

So even if the event only takes two hours you atleast didn't waste too much time and earned a fair amount.

Well, most\all of the "How much to charge" threads are asking for the amount to charge for prints, or shoots (as the main photographer). This one was just asking how much to charge the main photographer, to be an assistant\2nd shooter.
