Hi everyone.

I'm still learning to use my S200, and took it along to a family celebration one evening last week to take some stills. We were inside, under reasonable lighting conditions, and the camera was set to AUTO. The flash setting was on red-eye reduction.

When I got back home and downloaded the pictures to the PC, almost every single shot had the subjects with red eyes. Didn't matter if it was close up or farther away, the eyes were glaring back at me.

Has anyone else had this on their S200? One thing I noticed was that the flash only fired once per shot, and I thought that for red-eye reduction it should go off another time before the image is captured.

Any suggestions will be much appreciated - I've now gotta spend some time retouching the images....

Thanks

Deebee

I have the same problem - I think its a bug in the V2 - I have to go over all pictures with a red-eye remover utility

Thanks for the reply - disappointed to see that it looks like a hardware issue.

Can you recommend a good red-eye removal utility? The one that comes in the supplied software isn't the very best....

Well under red-eye reduction mode the V2 is supposed to flash its red-eye reduction/AF Assist lamp a couple of times before it fires the flash. Though the AF lamp is nowhere as powerful as the flash I thought it worked well enough, at least I dun seem to haf trouble with red-eye.....yet = ).

As I understand it, and I'm just learning this camera, the red-eye reduction is an option under the Manual setting. You can't have both red-eye and automatic flash at the same time.
