I'm looking for a point & shoot camera with hardly no shutter lag at all. Is there such
a camera?...
Its difficult to find a "point and shoot" camera thats all things to all people, but I'm
still looking for one.
I'd really appreciate any info..
thanks...

I have the SD950 it can take about 1 per second at 12.1M on standard shooting mode.
With continuous shooting mode maybe 2 per sec tops.
This is with a extreme III memory card..a slower card wont shoot as fast.

I have the S5 as well. And you are correct with the flash not being on. But when it's on...boy does it lag between each individula flash. :(

The S5 has a bit of shutter lag, already missed some shots like birds in flight
didnt tried to turn IS off to see if reduces the lag

Hows about the G9 or that new Sigma?

We were looking for something similar, and still wanted it pocket size.
The G9 is very good, hardly noticed any shutter lag (only just got it mind)

The lag is typically from focusing and not the actual shutter on the newer cameras, especially when you consider that there isn't a real shutter anyway. Once you get your focus locked (by half-pressing on the shutter button), most current cameras are actually fine. It's generally when you try to mash through the process in one go that you find things disappointing.
Having said that, there really are some truly slow-arse cameras out there regarding "fake shutter" lag...but it's usually the very bottom of the barrel and not cameras like the S5, G9, Fuji dSLR wannabes, etc. Heck even the Fuji F40 can be used to pan normal traffic.

i have the sd850 IS and have got some pretty good shots out of my cars window on the highway... but there is lag when shooting.. i dont really know if anything in the P&S models will NOT have lag.. I guess we all just learn to work around it.
