View Full Version : Download Problems

I bought my S40 about 5 months ago and it's been a great camera. The only real problem has been with the software when trying to download AVIs to my mac (OS 10.2). Downloading still shots has generally been OK but with AVIs it's been erratic at best.

I've tried both Image Capture and Image Browser. In IB I often get the message, 'Sorry, failed to load the MVI *****.AVI file'.
With IC it it either quits soon after starting a download or it doesn't recognize the camera is connected at all (when it is).

I've done a search and cleared all the preferences for both IC and IB (logging out and back in again) but the problem persists unfortunately.
I can't really use my camera again until I've downloaded the AVIs (or bought a new card).
Anyone have any advice??

Well, it took a while but I've managed to solve the problem in case anybody is interested.

Until now I'd always plugged my camera into a USB hub which is used for my peripheral devices. Seems it was a bad idea.
After I tried connecting the camera directly into one of the computer USB ports all the AVI & JPG images started downloading smoothly without quitting. I've tested both ImageCapture and Image Browser and everything works as it should. Yay!!

Hello!

I read your answer to your own question on the Canon forum and I noticed that you run Image Browser under MacOSX.
I have only ver. 1.2 of the Canon IB. Where did you get hold of the update. I´ve tried to download the ver. 2.3 updater, but after 6.1 Mb theres an error message on the Download manager, al the time. Any advise?

Hi,
If you go to versiontracker.com you should be able to download Image Browser without any problems. The URL to download ver. 2.3 is;

Thank you indeed, Yata.
But it was the wrong image browser. It only support PowerShot cameras, and not my digital Ixus, unfortunately.

But thanks again.
