What a great site to find !!

I was wondering if any one could direct me to some samples of a EF 70-200 F2.8 L IS USM that has a converter in it ? Doesnt really matter which converter but i would like to see how the image goes.

Thankyou
Gus

Most pros are too busy taking photos to hang out in forums. This place is invaluable IMHO, and not just for beginners.

Welcome! I'm at this board more often than I'm at any other boards. Which is saying a lot, cos I'm relatively new and used to spend all my online time at other boards. Anyway, I still need to go out one sunny day (when it's not so freezing) and take PICTURES! I've got all the equipment, just not the time... lol.

The Canon 70-200mm does really well with the 1,4X T-con.. very good indeed.. it is much worse with the 2X,. I'd advase against it except in a tight spot.

I'm afraid I can't post any good examples with the 1.4X however.. I just can't recall that any pics in my gallery use this combo.. (i'm sure there are some,. but can't recall which)

I know this isn't much help.. but I wanted to post this as the link you found in search points out my dislike of the 2X with this lens,.. It did not mention however that the 1.4X is a lot better.

There are several shots on my site that were taken using the 70-200mm L IS + the Canon 1.4 TC. All pictures are processed for web viewing.

Thanks for the kinds words regarding my pictures.

When I first purchased my DSLR system I got the 70-200mm L IS and both the 1.4x and 2x Canon TCs hoping that I could eventually get a longer prime lens. Using the 1.4x TC on the 70-200 I noticed little if any image degradation but with the 2x TC, the lens had to be stopped down to at least f/8 (better yet at f/11) to get reasonable results on this zoom. But I will admit that I did not give the 2x TC a really good workout to check its usefulness.

300mm seemed like the right focal length for many of my photo opportunities. With a longer lens, too many obstacles get in my way when trying to track hummers and small birds.

From the few test shots that I've done using the 2x TC on a 300mm f/4 and 400mm f/5.6, I can see that there is less image degradation with these prime lenses but AF is lost on my 10D.
