Hello,
What is the average time to shoot? That is from pushing the shutter button to shutter closing.
Is there a different result from pushing the shutter button 1/2 down and pausing, or pushing all the way at once?
The response I get seems very slow, a few seconds, and the moment has passed.
Any comments appreciated.

I am no expert, but the more things you can set, white balance, ISO, etc, the faster your camera will be able to take the pic. By pressing the shutter release half way, you are preping the camera. It will read the light, focus, etc. and when you press it the rest of the way it will be as close to instant that the camera can take.

Hope this helps.

The biggest lag is in auto-focus. Half-pressing the shutter release will lock this and the exposure in so when you press the shutter the rest of the way, it'll reduce shutter lag. Turning off red-eye reduction will also speed things up, if your flash is set to On or Auto, since that requires a pre-flash.
