Kittywakes and Puffins (4 pics)

In addition to the Gannetts,. Kittywakes shared the same nesting ground.
A small light gull (about the size of a common tern) they are extremely beautifull

The juvenile has the most amazing pattern.. like racing stripes!
The detail in the flight shot was really hurt by the fog and dull light,. but the pattern of stripes is clear;

This one, a little further along in the color pattern,.. was not too concerned about the guy hanging over the edge of the cliff to get this shot :)

Earlier in the week we had gone to Cape Bona Vista where the Puffins nest,.
Unfortunately the nesting site is farther off shore.. too far for a good shot of the activity.. I was lucky to get these flight shots with the island in the background making AF a lot trickier..

You obviously have too much time on your hands if you can manage to finally process these shots from 4 or 5 months ago. Why aren't you shooting? :-)

Marvelous shots. I'm heading back to the rock in the spring. I found myself a tour guide there and she will be guiding me to a spot where all the puffins hang out. I can hardly wait.
