Hi, Ive been working on my own photography business for about 6 months and still trying to figure out the business. I don't know how to go about shooting magazines, fashion shows, and sports. As of right now I figured shooting nightlife would give me a chance to shoot concerts which I want to do but I still don't know how. If someone knows could you tell me how to go about getting into the above mentioned niches.

I also wanted to get an idea of pricing, I've read all the post saying charge what its worth to me. Well I got in good with a music producer for a very famous singer and he told me he does need a photographer and asked what my rates were. Im stumped because I want the opportunity but I don't want to be to cheap(Also I know I'm still learning to do photo shoots). My friend told me he gets paid $75 an hour to assist his photographer so it makes me wonder what the photographer charges from the get go. If someone would give me some answers in a private message or on here i would appreciate it.

You will not want to hear this, but it's the only suggestion that I can think of giving you, for someone in your situation.

Established photographers get paid anywhere from zero to tens of thousands of dollars a day. If you're really serious about getting your business off on the right track, you should apprentice/assist for as many established photographers as possible, before you invest any more time and resources for your own business. After assisting/apprenticing a few photographers, you will have learned the answers to 95% of the questions that you have in your own business.

All the best, good luck in your ventures.

Thanks, that advice is better than none :) I met this older photographer a month ago and he told me to come to this big shoot hes doing in a couple of weeks and be his assistant and he'll train me so I took him up on his offer.
